Qui Nguyen Wins WSOP Main Event with Advanced Poker Training's Help
The biggest tournament of the year is now in the books as hours ago
Qui "TommyGun" Nguyen dominated an impressive final table during the past three days to win the
2016 World Series of Poker Main Event.
According to a press release from poker training site
Advanced Poker Training, Nguyen used the site's artificial intelligence simulations to develop an optimal strategy for when the first cards were dealt for the final table over the weekend. It appears his training paid off in a big way as Nguyen was able to navigate around some big names including Cliff 'JohnnyBax' Josephy who bowed out in third place and Gordan Vayo and etched his name in the history books with a WSOP title and the $8 million top prize. "I want to thank Steve Blay and Advanced Poker Training for their help and support before and during the event," said Nguyen.
It also appears that Advanced Poker Training is doing something right in another regard. Despite Nguyen not coming into the final table with the most amount of chips, the site predicted him to win based on 100 simulations run in a project coordinated with PokerNews. Many were surprised that the Josephy, who had the biggest stack entering the final table was not the winner the most times, and Nguyen who had second most chips was coming out on top more often during the simulations.
The simulations were run based on an in-depth profile of each player and use the different characteristics of their play to mimic them with advanced artificial intelligence powered bots with similar traits.
Accompanying Nguyen to the final table was none-other than Advanced Poker Training Director of Operations Steve Blay, who in his own right is an expert on game theory optimal, otherwise known as GTO. It is reported that Blay helped Nguyen with GTO calculations during breaks of the WSOP Main Event.
